General Questions

When will the Nokia 6510 be available?
The Nokia 6510 will be on sale in the first quarter of 2002 in Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific.

What will be the market price?
The prices of mobile phones vary from market to market, and the final retail price will be determined later.

Do the light blue display lights consume more battery power than the normal green ones?
No, they do not. In addition to being attractive, they also enhance usability by making the screen and the keys very clear and visible.

How does the FM radio work?
The radio in the Nokia 6510 works very much like a normal radio. You can manually switch between channels or use the search options and save your favorite channels under the number keys (like quick-dial saving from the phone book). You can also select the channels you have saved by using the Dual Headset.

How many radio stations can be saved?
Twenty radio channels can be saved under the number keys on the keypad, and nine of these can be accessed by using the short cut.

How does the voice commands work? How many commands are there?
You can activate certain phone features with your pre-set voice command tags. With voice commands you can activate Profiles, listen to Voice Messages, turn the radio on or off, change the radio station, activate IR, and activate the Voice Recorder. To manage the voice commands you can also use the headset.

How does the voice recording feature work?
With the voice recorder you can save phone conversations and record your own voice memos. The full length of the tape is 3 minutes, for one long or several shorter recordings. You can save a title, date and duration for the recorded memo or conversation. To get the most out of the recording, you can also set an alarm for the voice memo.

Can I record music from the radio with voice recorder?
No, that is not possible.

How many WAP connection sets can be stored in the Nokia 6510?
The Nokia 6510 supports 5 different WAP connection sets.

How many bookmarks can be stored in the Nokia 6510?
You can store up to 25 bookmarks of your favorite WAP pages.

Does the Nokia 6510 have SIM ATK support?
Yes, the Nokia 6510 supports SIM ATK Class 2 excluding call control.

Does the Nokia 6510 support HSCSD?
Yes, it does.

What is GPRS?
The Nokia 6510 supports General Packet Radio Service, which is a new data bearer like the "old" GSM (CSD) data or today's HSCSD. The end user gets the benefits of GPRS through WAP or PC connectivity (or even SMS) usage when GPRS is used as a data bearer for these applications.

What happens if my mother calls me when I´m using the GPRS connection to browse WAP pages?
The "Always online" connection is suspended temporarily and will resume again once you finish the call.

What is wallet?
The wallet is storage inside the mobile phone for different kinds of valuables. It contains three different modules with different usage purposes: Cards, Personal notes and Settings. The Cards module is used for storing personal card information, such as credit, debit, or loyalty card information. The data stored inside the terminal is protected with a special wallet code (PIN) that is used to authenticate the user to the application.

What you can do with wallet?
The wallet application enables users to make convenient on-line transactions via the WAP browser, i.e. the user can fetch the information from the wallet to the WML browser. You can also use wallet for storing your personal information, e.g. for user names, passwords and numbers.

How is the security guaranteed in the wallet application?
The data inside the wallet is protected by a user definable wallet (PIN) code. In the transaction itself, normal GSM/WAP security measures are used.

What applications come with the new Nokia PC Suite 4.51?

Where and how can I get this new PC Suite 4.51?
The Nokia PC Suite 4.51 for Nokia 6510 is provided in the phone sales package CD-ROM. You can also download it for free from Nokia web pages when the software is available.

If I have an older version of the Nokia PC Suite in my computer (e.g. from the Nokia 6210), what do I need to do?
You don't have to do anything. Install the new PC Suite and the older PC Suite will either remain or be updated. In the case of Data Suite 3.0, the Data Suite will ask to be updated to Data Suite 3.0a. The update can be downloaded free of charge from Nokia's web site. These two applications (Data Suite 3.0 and the new PC Suite) use the same components and that is why the Data Suite 3.0 update is needed.

 

 
   

 

 

Accessories

How many colored covers are available for the Nokia 6510?
The color of the Nokia 6510 in the Sales Package is Champaign. In addition, there are four Xpress-on Colored Covers sold as accessories: Light Blue, Dark Blue, Red and Dark Purple.

Does the Nokia 6510 come with a dual headset?
The sales package does not include a dual headset, but the Dual Headset HDD-1 can be purchased separately.

Will there be a specific headset for the Nokia 6510, or can you use the Nokia 8310's headset with it?
It will be possible to purchase the Dual Headset HDD-1 for the Nokia 6510. (This is the same headset that is used with the Nokia 8310.)

What is the difference between the Headset HDC-5 and Dual Headset HDD-1?
The chrome coated details in the earpieces and the silver colored clip of the Dual Headset HDD-1 complement the design of the Nokia 6510. When used with many of the previous models, such as the Nokia 8850, 8210, 3330, 3310 and the Nokia 3210, the new Dual Headset works as a normal headset. You can listen to the Nokia 6510 radio also with the HDC-5 Headset, but it is not ideal for listening to the radio because it has only a single earpiece. All the functionality of the HDC-5 is also found in the HDD-1 headset.

What can I do with the Dual Headset?
You can listen to the radio while browsing the WAP, playing games, writing text messages, using phonebook or during any other phone feature scrolling.

Can the Nokia 8200 and the Nokia 8800 series accessories be used with the Nokia 6510?
Not all of them. The accessories specific to the Nokia 6510 are the Xpress-on™ covers, the DCD-1 Desktop Stand, the MBD-10 Mobile Holder, and some of the carrying cases.
