Nokia was the official partner for the 16th International Ski Week held in Faraya/Faqra on March 1-4, 2001

 

Lebanon witnessed from the 1st to the 4th of March 2001 a mega winter event: The 16th International Ski Week, with Nokia as official partner. Several countries participated in this event, namely Germany, Armenia, Austria, Cyprus, France, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Monaco, USA, Greece, Turkey, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Lebanon.

 

The event’s opening ceremony took place on the 1st of March at the Mzaar Intercontinental Hotel in the presence of the Minister of Tourism. On Friday the 2nd of March, the first slalom competition took place at the “Refuge” terrace at Faraya-Mzaar.

 

 

On Saturday the 3rd of March, the Giant Slalom competition took place at the “Piste Rouge” and the beautiful ladies of ‘Wolford’ gave the medals to the winners after an amazing fashion show at the “Refuge” terrace. On Sunday the 4th of March, a slalom competition took place at the “T2” at Faqra Club.

1. Uros Pavlovcic (Slovenia)

2. Nicky Furstaur (Austria)

3. Mateas Narkin (France)

Women:

1. Ingrid Salvenmoser (Austria)

2. Cynthia Denzler (USA) 

3. Jiny Muller (Switzerland)

Final Team Ranking:

1. Austria 

2. Switzerland 

3. Slovenia

 

The closing ceremony took place at the Faqra club, Sunday March 4, 2001.
